1996 WILSON REUNION PRESS RELEASE

July 8, 1996

Dear Wilson Relatives and Friends,

The 87th Annual Wilson Reunion will be held on Sunday, August 18th in the Park at Moravia, Iowa.  Everyone meets in the park about 11:00 am for a Pot-luck dinner.  We eat at 12:00 noon.  Letters are always welcome from those who cannot attend.  This year's announcement is being sent to an expanded mailing list. This is due in part to the current work being done to update the Family Genealogy.  This work will be shared during the meeting.  Samples of expected records will be available, and orders will be taken with down payments. Corrections and additional data will be taken until December 31, 1996.  There have been over 1600 individuals identified at this point, and we are still expecting information from several families. If you haven't returned your Family Group Record, please do so as soon as possible, we want this record to be as complete and accurate as possible.  Finished products will be available at the 1997 reunion.

For those families that might be traveling in recreational vehicles, we have a marvelous lake only three miles from Moravia.  For several years some have been camping out at Rathbun Lake before or after the reunion.  It makes an excellent meeting and visiting place.  Sitting around the campfire overlooking the lake and sharing the Wilson Heritage can add immensely to the spirit of the reunion.  There is also a motel at the Marina for non-campers.  Write for more information, we'd love to have you join us there.

To help you plan for the future here are the dates for the next four years: August 17, 1997, August 16, 1998, August 15, 1999, (this will be the 90th reunion and we will be planning a great party!) and August 13, 2000, which will be the first reunion of the new century.

There were 123 persons in attendance at the 86th reunion which was the largest crowd since 1977.  There were many letters read from those who couldn't attend, prizes given, and officers elected.

Family is one of the most important things, and reunions are a fantastic way to stay connected with one another.  If you haven't come to a reunion for a while, you owe it to yourself and to your family to meet in the park on August 18th.

See you there,

John A Wilson
