1-12-07

Saturday January 13, 2007 is our monthly Chapter Gathering.  Meet at Western Sizzlin 5:00 PM to eat and 6:00 PM to meet.

SINCE THIS IS THE FIRST CHAPTER MEETING OF THE NEW YEAR, IT’S IMPORTANT THAT EVERY PARTICIPANT THAT POSSIBLY CAN BE IN ATTENDANCE.  YOU NEED TO KNOW WHAT’S GOING ON IN YOUR CHAPTER, SO PLEASE MAKE PLANS TO BE THERE.    VERY FEW RESPONDED TO THE QUESTIONNAIRE DAVID SENT OUT IN NOVEMBER.  IF HE DOESN’T KNOW WHAT THE MAJORITY EXPECTS THE CHAPTER TO BE AND WHAT YOU WANT TO DO, HOW CAN THE CHAPTER FUNCTION TO YOUR SATISFACTION?    THAT’S WHY IT’S SO IMPORTANT TO BE AT THE GATHERING SATURDAY EVENING.

10-31-06 The fall colors are about to peak, the weather forecast is for sunny skies with a cool start on Saturday morning, but at last it’s time for our Fall Colors Ride to the Great Smokey Mountain area.  Those in the Gadsden area will depart Kangaroo at 7 AM on Saturday 11-04-06.  Those closer to Snead will depart from the Snead Chevron at 6:45 AM, and both groups will meet at the Fort Payne Cracker Barrel for breakfast at 8 AM.  If it’s closer for some of you to go directly to the Fort Payne Cracker Barrel, be there at 8 AM.  Harold has scenic routes planned going up and coming back on Sunday, so be sure to bring your cameras with lots of film.  Plans are to arrive in Pigeon Forge about 4 PM, check in, then plan dinner and a ride to Gatlinburg according to the desires of the group.     If you have any questions about the ride, please call or e-mail Harold Emery.    Have a great ride and be safe. Wayne Gargus

10-12-2006

I apologize for not responding to several of you concerning Dave Parten’s viewing and funeral arrangements.   My computer has been down since Monday morning, so I asked George to send the notice to all of you for me.  We had 11 bikes for the escort.

Several Chapter N participants departed this morning heading to Biloxi for the MS District Rally.   For those of us who didn’t go, we have a dinner ride on Saturday to Big Bob Gibson’s BBQ in Decatur.  Depart Kangaroo 4 PM; meet others at Snead Chevron & depart at 4:45 PM.    PLEASE SEND ME AN E-MAIL OR CALL ME AND LET ME KNOW IF YOU PLAN TO GO.  MOST OF THOSE WHO REGULARLY ATTEND THE DINNER RIDES ARE IN MS, SO WE WANT TO BE SURE THAT SOMEONE IS AT THE MEETING PLACES IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO GO.        I M P O R T A N T      wayneg@otelco.net

ALSO, IT WAS DISCUSSED AT THE LAST CHAPTER GATHERING THAT NO ONE OTHER THAN GEORGE AND DOROTHY ARE PLANNING TO GO TO THE FL PANHANDLE BANDIT’S RALLY NEXT WEEKEND.  IF YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND AND PLAN TO GO, PLEASE LET ME KNOW ABOUT THAT ALSO.

Thanks.    Wayne

10-12-2006: Larry called yesterday while I was at the funeral and said he has sold the trike.  Liz talked to him so I don’t know if it was someone who saw it on the interned or someone local.  The last e-mail I had from him stated he was getting lots of bites from both.  Thanks for your assistance.    Wayne Gargus

10-9-2006:

Folks, we have lost another of our family members but not due to an accident.  Dave Parten attended our Chapter N monthly gathering last evening and reconfirmed our invitation to he and Sharon’s home for the Halloween Party on the 27th.  He was in good spirits and looked well last evening.  However, Sharon related that after he got home, they were watching a ball game on TV and he suddenly had a massive heart attack and was dead before the ambulance arrived.  Complete funeral arrangements are pending, but we understand that the viewing will be on Tuesday evening 10/10 and the funeral on Wednesday 10/11.  Sharon has requested a motorcycle escort in the funeral procession as we did for her brother about 3 years ago.   All GWRRA members and friends who can ride with us are requested to make plans to do so.  Complete arrangements, times, etc. will be forwarded to you as soon as available.

For those of you who may not know Dave and Sharon, they are long time GWRRA members and participated with Chapter C in Birmingham for many years when they lived in Birmingham.  They moved to the Oxford area several years ago and participated with both Chapters D and N for a while before a job transfer moved them to NC.  About 6 months ago, another job transfer moved them back to the Oxford area

11-29-2004:

Mr. Wilson,

I want to thank you so much for the very informative web page that you have that explains the Vin number in such great detail. I thought I new a lot about the Vin numbers until I read your web page. The one thing however that I would like to know is something I'm hoping you can direct me to. How does one go about finding how many vehicles specific to a certain model that were made. For example; A specific color only produced for a few years with a very specific trim package and model name. I have a friend who bought 94 mustang gt convertible and found out through a mustang club where to go online to look for information. Such as how many were made in his specific color with his specific interior package, & for how many years.
If you do know what direction to point me in, I would be most grateful indeed.

Thanks in advance

J Calderon

3-20-03 - From Terry C.

Terry, This is Great! Beth Chapman spoke at Cross Point Community Church Sunday March 16, at a Rally that our church held for Judge Roy Moore. Mrs. Chapman delivered this speech at the Judge Moore Rally. I understand that she has over 800 requests across the country to make a personal appearance and to deliver this speech. Thanks for the email Terry. I posted this on the web site, so every one can read and appreciate it. - Kerry W.

A Good Speech
This is outstanding. This lady tells it like it is.
Last week, the Shelby County Alabama Legislative Delegation hosted a
"Stand Up for America Rally." More than 1,200 people attended including
featured speakers Chief Justice Roy Moore, Adjutant General Mark Bowen
and Alabama State Auditor Beth Chapman.
Attached is a copy of Mrs. Chapman's speech, which resulted in five
standing ovations, tremendous applause and an encore. It's a short read
and well worth it.

I hope you enjoy it as we continue to "Stand up for America!"

Stand Up for America Rally Speech By: Beth Chapman

I'm here tonight because men and women of the United States military
have given their lives for my freedom. I am not here tonight because
Sheryl Crowe, Rosie O'Donnell, Martin Sheen, George Cooney, Jane Fonda
or Phil Donahue, sacrificed their lives for me.

If my memory serves me correctly, it was not movie stars or musicians,
but the United States Military who fought on the shores of Iwo Jima,
the jungles of Vietnam, and the beaches of Normandy. Tonight, I say we
should support the President of the United States and the U.S. Military
and tell the liberal, tree-hugging, Birkenstock-wearing, hippy,
tie-dyed liberals to go make their movies and music and whine somewhere
else.

After all, if they lived in Iraq, they wouldn't be allowed the freedom
of speech they're being given here today. Ironically, they would be put
to death at the hands of Sadam Husssein or Osama Bin Laden. I want to
know how the very people who are against war because of the loss of
life, can possibly be the same people who are for abortion?

They are the same people who are for animal rights but against the
rights of the unborn. The movie stars say they want to go to Iraq and
serve as "human shields" for the Iraqis. I say let them buy a one-way
ticket and go.

No one likes war. I hate war! But the one thing I hate more is the fact
that this country has been forced into war-innocent people have lost
their lives - - and there but for the grace of God, it could have been
my brother, my husband, or even worse my own son.

On December 7, 1941, there are no records of movie stars treading the
blazing waters of Pearl Harbor.

On September 11, 2001; there are no photos of movie stars standing as
"human shields" against the debris and falling bodies ascending from
the World Trade Center. There were only policemen and firemen -
-underpaid civil servants who gave their all with nothing expected in
return.

When the USS Cole was bombed, there were no movie stars guarding the
ship - - where were the human shields then?

If America's movie stars want to be human shields, let them shield the
gang-ridden streets of Los Angeles, or New York City, let them shield
the lives of the children of North Birmingham whose mothers lay them
down to sleep on the floor each night to shelter them from stray
bullets.

If they want to be human shields, I say let them shield the men and
women of honesty and integrity that epitomizes courage and embody the
spirit of freedom by wearing the proud uniforms of the United States
Military. Those are the people who have earned and deserve shielding!

Throughout the course of history, this country has remained free, not
because of movie stars and liberal activists, but because of brave men
and women who hated war too. However, they lay down their lives so that
we all may live in freedom. After all - "What greater love hath no man,
that he lay down his life for his friend," or in this case a country.

We should give our military honor and acknowledgement and not let their
lives be in vain. If you want to see true human shields, walk through
Arlington Cemetery. There lie human shields, heroes, and the BRAVE
Americans who didn't get on television and talk about being a human
shield - they were human shields.

I thank God tonight for freedom - - those who bought and paid for it
with their lives in the past - - those who will protect it in the
present and defend it in the future.

America has remained silent too long! God-fearing people have remained
silent too long!

We must lift our voices united in a humble prayer to God for guidance
and the strength and courage to sustain us throughout whatever the
future may hold.

After the tragic events of Sept. 11th, my then eleven -year-old son
said terrorism is a war against them and us and if you're not one of
us, then you're one of them.

So in closing tonight, let us be of one accord, let us stand proud, and
let us be the human shields of prayer, encouragement and support for
the President, our troops and their families and our country.

May God bless America, the land of the free, the home of the brave and
the greatest country on the face of this earth!

3-19-03: The following press release was forwarded to the media today by the American Motorcyclist Association, announcing the affiliation and alignment of the two organizations.
We are also pleased to announce that AMA has been approved by GWRRA as a Platinum Partner, further solidifying the relationship of our Associations.
AMA NAMES GWRRA FIRST ROAD-RIDING AFFILIATE
PICKERINGTON, OHIO -- The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) has announced that the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) has been
named the AMA's first Road-Riding Affiliate.
The AMA grants Road-Riding Affiliate status to effective and credible road-riding organizations that complement the AMA's mission to pursue,
promote and protect the interests of motorcyclists.
The alliance means that the AMA, with more than 250,000 members, and GWRRA, a national enthusiast organization of 85,000 riders around the world, will join together to serve the interests of street-riding motorcyclists. As part of its affiliation with the AMA, the GWRRA also agrees to promote AMA membership among its members and other riders who attend GWRRA events.
GWRRA full members are Honda Gold Wing or Honda Valkyrie riders, though owners of other motorcycles may join as associate members. Founded in 1977, the GWRRA has grown to its current size by remaining dedicated to its motto: "Friends for Fun, Safety and Knowledge."
"In the motorcycling community, there's no better example of a grass-roots enthusiast group than the GWRRA," said Gary Sweet, AMA Vice President of Membership and Marketing. "Having the strength of their numbers behind us only makes the AMA stronger and better able to fulfill the mission of protecting the interests of motorcyclists."
"The Gold Wing Road Riders Association has long supported the efforts and agenda of the AMA in its never-ending quest to protect the rights and freedoms of those who enjoy the sport of motorcycling," said Mike Wright, GWRRA President. "As an AMA Road-Riding Affiliate, we look forward to a partnership that will further strengthen the determination of all motorcyclists to defend their right to freedom of travel, both on and off the roads of America."
Two major GWRRA events will also carry the AMA logo. The 25th annual Wing Ding, the GWRRA's largest rally, will be an AMA affiliate event this year. The 2003 Wing Ding is scheduled for July 1-4 in Madison, Wisconsin.
The 4th Annual ANPAC Motorcycle Jubilee, scheduled for August 29-31 in Springfield, Missouri, has been designated the AMA South Central Regional Road Riding Convention for the second year.
For more information about the GWRRA, visit www.gwrra.org. To learn more about the AMA, visit www.AMADirectlink.com.
The American Motorcyclist Association, founded in 1924, is a non-profit organization with more than 250,000 members. The Association's purpose is to pursue, protect and promote the interests of motorcyclists, while serving the needs of its members. For more information, visit the AMA
website at www.AMADirectlink.com, or call 1-800-AMA-JOIN.
With pride and anticipation for the future.

2-28-03 Sorry we can't come again. Going to Atlanta to pick up Glenn's new motorcycle and not sure when we will be back. There a slight chance we will be back in time. LOVE THE NEW CYCLE. Please let everyone know the BMW is for sale. Jim.

2-21-03 Way to go Kerry.  Look out Dewey.  He's after your job.   Ha ha   Liz is doing great.  She's back in a regular room as of noon today and barking orders to our kids and me already.  Hopefully she will get to come home this weekend.   Wayne

2-19-03 Hi folks.   [Liz's surgery] was today.  She was only in the operating room about 2 ½ hours.  They did 3 by-passes and she came through it very well according to her surgeon.  However, after being in ICU for about 2 hours, she was bleeding from the chest tube and after they called the Dr. he came in and had to go back in to stop the bleeding.  One by-pass connection at the top of the heart was leaking due in part to her blood being so thin.  It only took one more stitch to stop the bleeding, and when we left her about 9 PM this evening, she was trying to wake up.  We can’t see her again until 8:30 in the morning, so by that time she should be fully awake.  The Dr. said all her vitals were very strong and she should go back to a regular room by tomorrow.  Prayer still works, so please continue to keep us all in your thoughts and prayers.     Wayne

2-19-03: Hello Kerry,
