Tentative Schedule of 2009 Rides and Events
This schedule includes the plans for the Alabama Counties Ride. We will ride to every Court House in Alabama this year. We begin by dividing the state of Alabama into several sections whereby our group could ride a planned route. Our ride through the Northern and Central Counties could be accomplished in several all day rides. And, riding through the Southern Counties would give us the opportunity for 3 overnight trips.
Goals
1) Zero accidents 2) 100% enrollment in the levels program. 3) Complete success of the "Ride Alabama Counties" project. Picture and article in 2010 Wing World. 4) parking lot practices (PLP's) utilized by all members. 5) Everyone in chapter has fun, feels included, and participates as much as possible. 6) Everyone feels they have a say in what goes on. The chapter has open communication and not a clique of people. 7) To grow as a family, both in size and activity. This is to be done by a close knit group riding together and having fun. 8) Zero Accidents - No one goes down, No one gets Hurt!
In addition to the Ride Schedule below, there will be a Parking Lot Practice (PLP) on the first Saturday of every month at 9:00 a.m. On the odd months, 1-3-5-7-9-11, the PLP will be held at North Glencoe Baptist Church on Hwy 431 S. in Gadsden, between E. Gadsden and Glencoe. The even month's PLP 2-4-6-8-10-12 will be held at Bethel Baptist on Hwy 278 West of Gadsden, between Sara's Cafe ( St. Clair County / Etowah County line) and Snead.
January 2009:
Saturday 1-17 - Snowball Ride and Officers Conference. Quality Inn & Convention Center, 2705 South Blvd., Montgomery, AL. 1-866-535-5392 group code: Gold Wing for overnight reservations. There is no admission charge and the fun begins at 9A.M. Competition for the 2009 AL District Coup of the Year begins at 9A.M.
Thursday 1-26 - Staff meeting at Ryan's in Boaz - 6:30 - 7:30 P.M.
February 2009:
Saturday 2-7 - Chapter Gathering at Western Sizzlin (See above for directions). PLP.
Saturday 2-14 - Annual Chili & Dessert Cook Off at Palasades Park off Hwy 231, two miles north of Oneonta. Make a batch of your best chili and dessert, and compete with your fellow chapter members to determine who makes the best of each. Everyone is also asked to bring other covered dishes to compliment the chili and deserts. Plates, cups, coffee, plastic ware, tea, soft drinks, ect. will be provided by the chapter. Our reservations are from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Dalton Moss Lodge. It's Valentine Day and that will be our theme. Bingo will be played for door prizes.
Saturday 2-28 The first of 9 Alabama Counties ride. Ride Coordinator & Road Captain: Ray & Deb Coffen. Counties to Ride: Marshall, DeKalb, Madison, and Jackson. Depart 8:15 am at Kangaroo in Rainbow City, 8:30 Snead Cross Road, and 9:00 Albertville K-Mart. (Note: This has been rescheduled from the original date of 2/21/09 due to anticipated inclement weather).
Thursday 2-23 - Staff meeting at Ryan's in Boaz - 6:30 - 7:30 P.M.
March 2009
Saturday 3-7 Chapter Y Fund Day and Charity Event for Camp Smile-A-Mile. The fun begins at 10 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the Gardendale Civic Center, Lots of door prizes and a huge 50-25-25. For complete details go to their website at www.libertywings.org . (We will return in time for our Chapter gathering this evening). Depart Kangaroo 8:45 AM, ride 278 W & meet others at BP/McDonald's in Snead to depart at 9:15 AM. Continue 278 W to 79 S to 160 W to 31 S to Gardendale. This is one you won't want to miss. Saturday 3-7 - Chapter Gathering at Western Sizzlin (See above for directions). No PLP on this date. PLP is rescheduled to . April 4th at Bethel Baptist Church on Hwy 278 in Snead.
Saturday 3-14 - Second of 9 AL Counties Ride. Ride Coordinator & Road Captain: Bill & Deb Zentner. Counties to ride: Morgan, Limestone, Lauderdale, Colbert, and Lawrence.
Saturday 3-21 - Maintenance Day at Butch's - Great chance to work on your bike and enjoy an excellent pot-luck dinner.
Thursday, Friday, Saturday, March 12-14 - Florida District Rally at the Radisson World Gate Resort, Kissimmee, FL. - Theme is "Under The Sea." www.flagwrra-regiona.org for complete details.

Saturday 7-18 - Sixth of 9 AL Counties ride. Ride Coordinator & Road Captain: George & Dorothy Glenn. Counties to ride: Talladega, Clay, Randolph, Chambers, Tallapoosa Coosa & Shelby.
Saturday 7-25 - Second annual AL & TN Big Burger Rode. This is a multi Chapter and Multi District gathering at Randy's Restaurant in Trenton, GA, home of the 48oz hamburger.

Saturday 8-8 Al District Picnic (North) at Tannehill State Park near McCalla, AL. 10 AM to 2 PM. Complete details at www.alabama-gwrra.org.
Saturday 8-22 - Seventh of 9 AL Counties Ride & the second overnight. Since this ride goes through Montgomery, let's try to get as many as possible to ride this one and have a group picture of the riders & co-riders beside their Gold Wings with the State Capitol in the background. Danny Daniels of Chapter F is a Montgomery Policeman and he could be helpful in determining an exact spot to stage. We hope to get a professional type photo so submit with an article to Wing World about the Ride Alabama Counties Ride. Counties to ride: Lee, Russell, Macon, Bullock, Barbour, Elmore, Henry, Houston, Geneva, Crenshaw, Covington, Dale, Coffee, Pike, and Montgomery.

Wednesday 11-11 - Annual Veterans Day Parade in Birmingham. Please support our military personnel and veterans. This is the largest Veterans Day parade in the USA. Additional information will be provided.

Saturday 12-5 - Chapter N Annual Christmas Party and Chapter Gathering - Rainbow City Community Center. 4:30 PM. Chapter will provide meat and table service. Please carry in other foods and desserts. PLP.
